RJI seeks newsroom partners for millennial-driven innovative projects 10/8/18

The Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute is looking for media outlets interested in partnering with advanced students from the Missouri School of Journalism as part of its RJI Student Innovation Fellowship program. Fellows are embedded in a newsroom for a full semester to help with projects employing innovative technologies, storytelling techniques and revenue models.


Playoff and World Series preview and coverage pages, plus NFL/college pages 10/2/18

Major League baseball playoffs and World Series previews and coverage are available from the GateHouse Media Center for News & Design.

The Center for News & Design is offering an advance page before the playoff games, the division series and the World Series – a total of five pages.

Each night there is a playoff game, a half-page wrap up will be available with stats, data and other info.

Newspapers can enhance their coverage and save staff time and effort with these ready-to-use pages.

GateHouse Media buys The Oklahoman Media Company 10/1/18

The Oklahoman Media Company has been sold to the fastest-growing publishing company in the country, New York-based GateHouse Media, for an undisclosed amount.

Chris Reen, who was publisher of The Oklahoman and president of The Oklahoman Media Company, will remain with The Anschutz Corp. Jim Hopson of Gatehouse will be the interim publisher of The Oklahoman.

BrandingForward: Class to map future positioning of local newspapers 9/25/18

Ann Day Becker's campaigns class at the Meek School of Journalism and New Media's Integrated Marketing Communication degree program at Ole Miss has divided itself into several "ad agencies" and all of them have taken The Meridian Star on as a client.

For the fall semester, the class will be focusing on developing marketing strategies for The Meridian Star.

Lakeway Publishers to sell Sun Publications to D-R Media 9/24/18

D-R Media and Investments is purchasing Sun Publications of Florida from Lakeway Publishers, according to Gary Greene and Randy Cope of Cribb, Greene & Cope.

Publications include the Sumter Shopper, The Clermont News Leader, the Four Corners News Leader, the Mt. Dora Triangle News Leader and the commercial printing operations based in Polk county, Fla.


Cribb, Greene & Cope Annual Publisher Confidence Survey 9/18/18

Newspaper owners and executives are encouraged to participate in the Annual Publisher Confidence Survey.

The survey asks 11 questions that provide direct feedback from publishers on revenue, profit and other current trends in the publishing industry.

The survey takes less than two minutes to complete, and results are provided immediately so publishers can see how others are responding.


American Hometown Publishing buys Osceola News-Gazette 9/10/18

Lakeway Publishers has sold the Osceola News-Gazette (Kissimmee, Fla.) to American Hometown Publishing, according to Randy Cope and Gary Greene of Cribb, Greene & Cope, who represented Lakeway Publishers in the transaction.
